German story:
In Germany in 1877 Margerete Steiff created a toys company which were made out of old clothes from her uncle's factory. She made with fur a small padded elephant. This elephant was most popular between children of all ages and so she created other good quality fur's animals. Her nephew was with her in the company and he wanted to have a toy which will be as popular for boys as for girls. Richard observed bears in Stuttgart zoo and he convinced his aunt to make a small bear. She created a prototype called PB 55. It was exhibited in spring's trade fair in Leipzig and the company sold the last day 3000 "friends petzy" to Hermann Berg an American buyer who worked for New York's firm "George Borgfelt and Co". They decided to call this bear "friend
petzy".
En Allemagne, en 1877, Margerete Steiff créa une société de jouets qui était à l'origine l'usine de vêtements de son oncle. Elle fit avec de la fourrure un petit éléphant capitonné. Cette peluche fut très populaire auprès enfants tous âges confondus. Ainsi Margarete continua sa production et créa d'autres sortes de peluches toutes de très bonne qualité. Son neveu faisait partit de la société et il voulu créer un jouet pour des garçons et les filles. Richard observa des ours dans le zoo Stuttgart et il convaincu sa tante de faire un petit ours en peluche. Elle créa un prototype appelé PB 55. Il fut exposé dans un salon professionnel qui exposait au printemps à Leipzig. La société vendit le dernier jour de l'exposition près de 3000 "friends petzy" à Hermann Berg un acheteur américain qui travaillait pour la société de New York "George Borgfelt and Co". Ils décidèrent d'appeler
